Bring on summer! UK festival lineups 2018

Music lovers are in for a treat this summer. If there’s one thing we Brits know how to do well, it’s the summer music festival. While Glastonbury takes a well-earned break for a fallow year in 2018, there are plenty of other festivals we know you’re going to love just as much. Rock, grunge, garage or techno, every musical taste is going to be catered for this summer.

BBC Music’s The Biggest Weekend Festival

What: The UK’s largest celebration of music, hosted across four nations.

Where: Titanic Slipways in Belfast, Scone Palace in Perth, Singleton Park in Swansea and War Memorial Park in Coventry.

When: 25th–26th May (Perth and Belfast) and 26th–27th May (Swansea and Coventry).

Festival lineup: Taylor Swift, 30 Seconds to Mars, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Liam Gallagher, Simple Minds, Ash, Goldie, Manic Street Preachers, Tears for Fears, Paloma Faith, UB40, Billy Ocean and many, many more across the four venues.

What: Music, turned up to eleven. This is the UK’s biggest and best rock festival.

Where: Donnington Park, Derbyshire.

When: 8th–10th June.

Festival lineup: Avenged Sevenfold, Black Stone Cherry, You Me At Six, Marilyn Manson, Ozzy Osbourne, Guns N’ Roses, Bullet For My Valentine, The Hives, Cradle of Filth, Dragonforce, Hell is for Heroes, A, Less Than Jake and Alexis on Fire, plus plenty more amazing acts.

The Isle of Wight Festival

 

What: The 50th anniversary of one of the UK’s finest family festivals.

Where: Seaclose Park, Isle of Wight.

When: 21st–24th June.

Festival lineup: Kasabian, Depeche Mode, The Killers, The Script, Feeder, Manic Street Preachers, Van Morrison, Liam Gallagher, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Rita Ora, Travis, Sheryl Crow and Hurts, to name but a few.

TRNSMT Festival

 

What: A five-day musical bonanza in Glasgow, Scotland.

Where: Glasgow Green, Glasgow.

When: 29th and 30th June and 1st, 6th and 8th July.

Festival lineup: Texas, Franz Ferdinand, Queen and Adam Lambert, The Killers, The Script, Arctic Monkeys, Liam Gallagher, Stereophonics, The Darkness, Jessie Ware and Courteeners, plus others you’re bound to adore.

Wireless Festival

 

What: A celebration of urban music at its finest.

Where: Finsbury Park, London.

When: 6th–8th July.

Festival lineup: Stormzy, Wiley, J. Cole, DJ Khaled and Friends, Wretch 32, Migos, Party Next Door, Cardi B, Rick Ross and Smokepurpp, alongside more of urban music’s hottest stars.

Latitude Festival

 

What: Music, comedy and family fun in one amazing festival lineup.

Where: Henham Park, Southwold.

When: 12th–15th July.

Festival lineup: The Killers, alt-J, Rag’n’Bone Man, James, Mogwai, The Vaccines, Harry Hill, Solange, Alan Davies, Dylan Moran, Aisling Bea, The Charlatans, QI Live and The Recirquel Contemporary Circus, with yet more acts besides.

Bestival

 

What: A festival famed for being fun, frenetic and fabulous.

Where: Lulworth Castle, Dorset.

When: 2nd–5th August.

Festival lineup: Plan B, Chaka Khan, M.I.A., Goldie, Thundercat, Silk City, Grace Jones, Jorja Smith, Gentleman’s Dub Club, London Grammar, First Aid Kit and a wealth of stalls, acts and artists.

Creamfields

 

What: The UK’s premier dance and garage music festival.

Where: Daresbury, Cheshire.

When: 23rd–26th August.

Festival lineup: Faithless, Fatboy Slim, Annie Mac, Armand Van Helden, Chase and Status DJ Set, Leftfield, Pete Tong, Paul Van Dyk and so many other unmissable acts in the world of dance music.

Reading and Leeds Festivals

What: Two of the UK’s most famous and varied music festivals run side by side.

Where: Little John’s Farm in Reading and Bramham Park in Leeds.

When: 24th–26th August Bank Holiday Weekend.

Festival lineup: Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, Pendulum, The Kooks, Annie Mac, The Horrors, Papa Roach, Kate Nash, Kings of Leon, The Vaccines, Sum 41, Kendrick Lamar and Dua Lipa, plus much, much more.
